Champion Ramen

Gantetsu from Sapporo. One of the four Ramen stalls from within Champion Ramen. There are also others from Tokyo - Hakata and Toyama. Gantetsu focuses on using a mixture of different Miso for its broth.

Gantetsu from Sapporo. Spicy Miso Ramen. Huge serving of noodles with a lightly spicy miso broth. Nothing really to rave about. But I guess I could say that the egg was cooked to perfection.

Gantetsu from Sapporo. Special Miso Ramen. Once again, the portion of noodles is enough to feed 2 persons. The miso based broth was decent and not overly salty. However, I honestly feel the ramen from Shin Sapporo and Nantsuttei beats this stall hands down.

Saveur

Located at the humble intersection of Joo Chiat and East Coast Road. This kopi-tiam style French cuisine is something you would never expect. Angel Hair Pasta tossed with Komba (dried shrimps). The pasta was al-dente, it was fragrant and tasty. It only costs $4! However, the portion might be a little small for big eaters.

Angel Hair Pasta with Tiger Prawn and Lumpfish Caviar. Similarly, the pasta was al-dente, tasty and the prawns looked fresh. Nothing much that I can pick on. Costs $7 only.

Foie Gras (Duck Liver). They used duck liver instead of the usual high-end goose liver. Costs $7.50 for 30g. Served with stewed lentils, it didn't look fantastic in my opinion. I am not really into Foie Gras, but my friend told me that although the taste is good, she didn't like the texture. So, my suggestion to you is that IF you are a diehard fan of goose liver, don't try this!

Duck Confit. At just $8.90, this has to be the cheapest duck confit I have eaten. It wasn't as succulent or crispy as I had hoped it would be. But definitely worth the price. So if you are keen on a duck confit that has a knock down price, TRY IT!

Tims Restaurant & Cafe

Located near Braddell, they are opened by 2 Nepalese guys who are very friendly and hospitable. Food is really cheap too! Their top dishes are Braised Ox Tail; Braised Lamb Shank and their dumplings called "MoMo".

Turkey Gumbo. Gumbo originated from the black people who threw in whatever they could grab hold of and made this stew that exhudes love and soul. Although this gumbo isn't the traditional gumbo that I know of, but it has a decent taste to it and it only comes with the set meal. Don't expect too much though.

Grilled Chicken Chop and Shrimps. This is one of the main course choices from the set meal menu which costs around $15. The chicken was grilled nicely, not too dry. And the shrimps were fresh. The mushroom sauce simply brought the whole dish together.

Braised Ox Tail. Best dish of the day! Tender and succulent. Void of any possible unpleasant smell that some people associate beef with. This dish is a must try if you visit the place.

Grilled Dory Fish with Mussels. Decent dish at best that comes with the set meal. Portion is small and perfect for patrons with a small appetite.

Ribeye Steak. Quite a let down I would say. The dish didn't look appetizing and quite possibly the more expensive dish there given the fact that the steak was only about 1cm thick. Skip this especially if you are an avid beef lover.

Surf and Turf. This dish consists of a grilled chicken chop and garlic butter lobster. Don't be misled by the picture. Though the chicken was perfectly grilled, the lobster was a huge let down. I don't think it was very fresh as it has quite a fishy smell to it.

Prune Cake. What a pleasant surprise! Though this simple looking cake came with the set meal, it was simply heavenly. It was light, moist, fluffy and had a wonderful prune taste to it. A must eat!

MEDZ

A Mediterranean concept restaurant similar to Marche. It is actually under the same group of company that houses Food Junction.

French Onion Soup. Looks ordinary and without the typical cheese and toast on most French Onion Soup. I wouldn't consider this a classic French Onion Soup, but just a regular Onion Soup. However, it has a decent flavour to it and sweet. But I wouldn't pay the $5 I paid for it again as I could have better spent it on other food.

Mushroom Soup. Also costing $5, it is quite a good tasting soup to be honest. Better than the French Onion Soup, it has a strong mushroom flavour to it and it doesn't taste too creamy. Worth it!

French Duck Confit. Not as good as the one I had from Bistro Du Vin. It is on the saltier side and its skin is not crispy enough. However for $12, it is definitely a dish that you should order if you are on a budget and prefer additional salt to your meal.

Grilled Cod Fillet. Not spectacular. The fish was grilled nicely, okay mash potatos, watercress salad served with Salsa sauce. A good choice if you are not a meat lover.

Hazelnut Latte. I'm not someone who knows how to enjoy a good cup of coffee. But this is almost as good as Coffeebean and Starbucks.

Creme Brulee. A decent rendition of Creme Brulee, the custard inside is decent but the sugar crust on top is a little too thick. I had to hit it quite hard to break through it. But the goodness is all right at the bottom... yes... tons of vanilla beans sat right at the bottom, so stir it upwards before you eat this.

Chocolate Souffle. The Souffle had a good consistency to it and it comes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and vanilla sauce to top it off. Definitely one of the better desserts they have.
