Awfully Chocolate

<Banana Chocolate Cake>

Well, after trying out its signature chocolate cake for the first time. I was eagerly gearing up to get a taste of this. The banana taste is quite strong, but somewhat a little artificial in my opinion. (I could be wrong.) But what it really did was that it made the cake much more moist in the centre.

Awfully Chocolate

<Chocolate Cake>

They have 2 other players that are chocolate banana and chocolate raspberry with rum. But I chose the simple chocolate cake as I wanted to compare it to the one I had from Chocolate Origins. If you remembered, I wasn't entirely impressed with the cake from the other side. Thus, I was really eager to try this out. All I can say is that I totally preferred this hands down. Awfully Chocolate's chocolate cake was so much more moist that it literally melts in your mouth. The depth of the chocolate was good and luckily it wasn't too sweet. A must try for all chocolate dessert lovers!

Chocolate Origin

<Dark Chocolate Cake>

I know many people rave about their chocolate cakes while some others prefer the one from Awfully Chocolate. I have not tried the one from Awfully Chocolate yet so I cannot really make a comparison here. However, the smell of this cake when you first open its box is simply alluring. The looks of it is really simple yet elegant. However, I wouldn't say it is divine or to-die-for. My first bite into it was nice, but not what I had expected it to be. The cake really did fall short of my expectation (maybe it was too high), contrary to the hype in my office. It wasn't that moist - quite dry in fact. The chocolate mousse was alright. Not too sweet, but lacked the taste of real cocoa beans. At $36 for a 6-inch cake, I probably wouldn't buy it again. But it is really up to you guys to decide!

Overall - Try it

Valrhona

Well, the last of my supplies was wiped out by me over the weekends. So I just had to get my hands on this fantastic chocolate again. Only this time, I'm trying out 4 other different plantations at once.

Have not tried all 4 yet. But so far, Manjari is by far the most intense and fruitiest chocolate I have had. Robust and full of flavour that tingles all your senses.
