Hatched

Located at Evans Road, it predominately serves breakfast menu the whole day with its primary focus on eggs. Yes, almost every dish on the menu consists of eggs. So be sure to give it a visit if you are an egg lover.

Burly Benedict. A typical eggs benedict with a twist. Gone is the ham, replaced by corned wagyu beef. Out goes the hollandaise, in comes what they call the Mornay sauce. The egg was perfectly poached and oozing with love. The corned wagyu beef was saltiness at its best. The sauteed potatoes were rather typical. Only letdown was probably the under-dressed salad which needed more balsamic vinegar to balance out the richness of the whole dish.

Sir Benedict. This was the typical eggs benedict that most of you would be familiar with. The mashed potato side was great. It was tasty and you could still feel bits & pieces of freshly cooked potatoes in it. But what made this dish awesome was the fact that they actually grilled the black forest ham and that brought out the full aroma which it might have otherwise lacked. Overall, I preferred this version over the burly~

Twelve Cupcakes

A cupcake boutique opened by local celebrity, Jaime Teo and her husband. They have a whole range of flavours (up to about 20+). But on a daily basis, they usually bake about 12 flavours including 1 ~ 2 specials of the day.

Yup, I only bought a box of 3 to try out as I was quite sceptical about it. However.... read on. ^^

Expresso Infused Buttercream on a Moist Coffee Cupcake. The taste of the expresso was just nice for me. Not too strong but just enough to tickle your taste buds. It is moist, soft and not too sweet. Yums!

Mocha, Chocolate Cream Cheese on a Moist Coffee Cupcake. Similar to the expresso cupcake with the exception of the topping which is chocolate cream cheese. Slightly sweet and salty. The cupcake was also moist, soft and not too sweet. Perfect!

Vanilla Cream Cheese on a Classic Red Velvet Cupcake. My favourite out of the 3! I have to say though I have taken a liking to red velvet cakes recently. Haha. The vanilla cream cheese was smooth, silky and packs a bagful of vanilla fragrance. The cupcake was up to mark as well. Totally satisfied with all the 3 I bought and will definitely go back again for more.

Canton Paradise

Fried Shrimp with Mango Roll. Tasty, bursting with flavour and it doesn't feel oily at all. Only complaint I have of this dish would be that they could have been a little more generous with the shrimps. But worth a try!

Siew Mai. Any good dim sum meal would be incomplete without the good old Siew Mai. They were fresh, juicy and come in 2 flavours! One with the usual pork filling, the other filled with shrimps. Tasty!

Tri-BBQ combination. Was a little disappointed that their roast pork wasn't available and we had to settle for poached kampong chicken. Wasn't disappointed with the dish but I would say I had better BBQ pork, roast duck and poached chicken elsewhere.

Scallop Congee. Tasty, silky smooth and fragrant. Only thing I would ask for would be to have more than just 4 scallops in it.

BBQ Pork pastry. Highly recommended!!! Tasty, tender BBQ Pork filling that isn't too sweet, wrapped around in pastry that literally melts in your mouth. Yes, you read it right, it melts! The pastry is so thin and fluffy. The best I have eaten so far in Singapore!

Shrimp Rice Rolls. Quite typical. You could give it a miss if you are very picky about your rice rolls. Although the shrimps are fresh and the sauce is good, I felt the rice rolls were a bit too thick for my liking.

Egg Tarts. I wouldn't say this is the best in Singapore. But definitely one of the best I've eaten. The pastry is light and fluffy. The egg custard is smooth with just the right amount of sweetness. Try it!
