The Shepherd's Pie

<Classic Beef Shepherd's Pie>

Decided to call for delivery on a lazy Saturday evening. My wife came across this yummy looking pie and we just went for it. For beef, the pie also comes in flavours such as black pepper, rendang or other fillings such as chicken, lamb etc. Upon delivery, the pie was still warm and we couldn't wait to sink our teeth into it. First bite was quite tasty although it could use a little more seasoning. But the mash was a little too much for my liking. My idea of a Shepherd's Pie is one that is about 1/4 mash and 3/4 filling at the bottom. Last but not least, the beef filling contained quite a fair bit of veins making it hard to chew. I will most probably give this a second shot but will likely choose something with more kick and less veins like black pepper chicken.

Tims Restaurant & Cafe

 <Salmon and Chicken Pasta>

And so, we went back for a 2nd time after a pleasant 1st experience. This was my bro's dish. He said it was good and the pasta was cooked al-dente.

<Ribeye Steak>

Well, my dad went back for his usual - Ribeye Steak. However, this time it was slightly overcooked as the steak he received was medium-well instead of medium.

<Sirloin Steak>

My mum's dish. Generally tasty according to her, but it had a tad too much veins in it. She had a little trouble cutting through some parts.

<Crabmeat Aglio Olio>

My wife ordered crabmeat aglio olio. Pasta was cooked al-dente, but the taste was so-so. Wasn't spicy or garlicky enough to wet anyone's taste buds I'd bet. And they could have been more generous with the crabmeat.

 <Braised Lamb Shank>

Well, this was what I ordered. One of their signature dishes. It was really tender and moist, but more importantly, it didn't reek of the smell of lamb that so many hate.

<Nepalese Momo>

You could say this was their version of "xiao long bao". But don't be mistaken, it is nothing like it at all. First up, it was filled with chicken that was well seasoned with Indian-like spice, also, it didn't possess the soup "xiao long bao" has enclosed within its skin. It was much more firm and filling. Overall, it was tasty. Oh, did I mention that it came with a tangy tasting dip as well?

<Raisin Cake>

It was tasty, light and fluffy. But it paled in comparison to the previous prune cake we had. But it was part of the set meal, what more could we ask for? ^^

 <4 cups of health>

Oh yea! 4 cups of uber healthy fruit juices. Bottom left clockwise, we have Detox (Carrot, Apple and Cucumber), Hearty Avocado (Avocado, Soy Milk and Gula Melaka), Refresh (Strawberry and Red Apple) and ABC² (Apple, Beetroot, Carrot and Celery) The best tasting one out of the 4 was probably Hearty Avocado. It was rich, creamy and the gula melaka really did its trick. Really good.

 <Lobster Bisque Soup>

I commend them for trying out this technically difficult dish. The soup was really filled with lobster flavour and  bits of its flesh. However, the soup tasted kinda rough. It wasn't of the velvety texture that I normally associate such soups with.

<Smoked Duck Salad>

Looks good and tastes good. The vegetables were fresh, the zesty mango mayo was a decent match with its fruity flavour. But the main thing was that the duck was succulent and oozed a smoky goodness.

<Crabmeat Aglio Olio>

Sorry about the photo. Okay, back to the food. The crabmeat though good, but its portion wasn't very generous. And it came way too minced. I was hoping that it came in chunks after chunks after chunks. As for the pasta, it didn't really accentuate the essence of an aglio olio. It was lacking in terms of the fragrance of garlic and olive oil.

 <Lobster Pomodoro>

Definitely better than the aglio olio dish. The chunks of lobster were huge, fresh and not overcooked. Pasta was cooked al-dente too.

 <Beef Bourguignon>

I have to say this was probably the best dish of all. The beef was really tender and juicy. The red wine cooked all the way through it leaving the tendons melting in your mouth. However, the downside for me would be that the gravy is a little too sweet for my liking. But I must say that it goes very well with the toast. The bed of mashed potato was also nicely done and seasoned well.

<Vegan Ice-Cream >

Well, well... can you believe it? This ice-cream is dairy and egg-free. It is made from organic brown rice and nuts. The flavours we had were Chocolate & Cocoa Bean and Vanilla & Rose Sprinkle. Both tasted really good and we couldn't believe that it did not contain any milk or eggs. However, the texture of the ice-cream was not exactly smooth. Nevertheless, you can have your dessert without guilt now! Haha ^^

Soup Spoon

<Beef Goulash Pot Pie>

I've been to Soup Spoon countless times, but this is my first time trying their pot pie. I chose one of my favourite soups, Beef Goulash, to go with it. It wasn't too bad - the pastry was buttery and savoury with a nice crispy layer. The salad that came with it had vinaigrette a little too acidic and garlicky for my liking.

Cafe L’Espresso

Many people say high-tea are for women. Well... they are spot on! Surrounding me and my wife were tons of female gangs all chattering and chomping away happily. So were we! ^^

The spread and variety at Cafe L'Espresso is huge for a high-tea setting. Not to mention that the food was good too. Though nothing really stands out spectacularly, everything was delicious and of a decent standard. Head down with your friends today and have a smashing afternoon!

Oh.. Oops. I guess I need to point out that the scones were somewhat of a letdown. Skip if you are not too keen on them.
